The concept of money has always been a struggle for me. At times I get the concept of money and the law of attraction and other times it is so elusive to me. So in the spirit of myself finding enlightenment in regards to abundance and money, I share this with you.
(From the book "The Return of the Prophet" by Hajjar Gibran)
Author: "Teach me of money...for is it not by this medium that earthly success is measured and security gained?"
Prophet: "I would have you gain mastery in all your means, but measure not your worth nor success with money, for money cannot make love and your worth is in making love visible.
Your desire for success is at the core of your failing, for only when you are empty of desire will success fill you.
A person may control nations triumphantly and be honored throughout generations, yet feel little self-worth. While another, in the simplest existence, may inspire an awakening of the soul yet be neither acknowledged nor remembered by name. Where
is worth found and from where does it come? What worth has a blade of grass next
to a majestic sequoia?
Only you give yourself worth, or not.
And just as the earth yields her fruit unto you according to the seeds you sow, so too is your soul a field of abundance that the heavens shower blessed manna upon according to the dreams you seed in the formless substance. The answers to your highest aspirations lie waiting in the untapped source within you.
If you are an opportunist in pursuit of fame and fortune, you rob yourself of your inner treasures, like a miner who forsakes nature's beauty to obtain her glittering gold. Voracious pursuits will quench your desires as effectively as bucketing fuel upon a fire to extinguish it.
The want for more will never be enough, for that which you do not need does
little to satisfy. Let your aspirations be exalted beyond the superficial allure of soul-defeating gains.
Money can neither unchain your heart nor unveil your beauty. It cannot guide your feet in dance nor free your voice in song.
ONLY YOUR OPENNESS CAN FILL YOUR EMPTINESS.
Like a blind man at a banquet table, often the hungry mouth of poverty ignores the outspread offerings of the Provider. Prosperity begins in recognizing the magnificent world as your playground. With the meditative seriousness of a child on a treasure hunt, find your well of inspiration, that you may offer creative solutions to the problem you perceive.
Your desire is life's desire for itself. What do you truly want but the freedom and
power to love your dreams into being? What greater power can you enjoy than the
freedom to love as you are?
What can tomorrow bring that is not yours now?
You are the child in the garden of grace, supported on whatever plane you choose to play. And the greatest treasure you will ever find is in the love you share.
Consider the precious gift to be here alive - to touch, to feel, to love.
Bargain not the present for a keepsake or a promise."
